If at any time an author can bring out emotions in a reader, they are a success. If they can draw in a reader to feel engaged in the journey of their new book friends, they earn more respect. If an author can leave a reader feeling intrigued, inspired, and even offer healing, they’ve gained a bibliophile fanatic for life. - Shani K. - The Chronicles of an Abibliophobiac.

Austin isn't a man who wastes words or time. For him, detaching himself from emotions helps him to deal with all that goes on in his mind. After all, having a photographic memory can make everyday life difficult. But when you add in his work, it can make for overwhelming moments. He's been riding the line between the two MC's, working for Broken Deeds on cases as needed and being an active member of Aerion Fury. He's done it for so long, it's second nature. His brutally honest personality also makes him a brutally honest bungholio most of the time. He makes no apologies for the way he is. Until he meets Jersey.

Jersey isn't a woman who wastes her time on things or people that don't mean something to her. She's dedicated to what makes her happy. Creating and manufacturing her work has proven that she has what it takes to make a good life for herself. But, the other side of her craves to do the work her family does. Helping out the MC gives her the thrill of solving cases and helping others. She has no issues saying what she feels and it often shocks everyone around her. Her passionate nature makes her who she is. She never felt a passion for a man that was all-consuming. Until Austin.

When they're paired together to track down the truth behind the disappearance of a friend, they get more than they bargained for. Austin feels like for the first time in his life, emotions are ok and he's feeling. Jersey fights her own feelings but feels a deeper connection with the man she crushed on for so long. Can they solve these cases and make things work? or will it all go up in flames?

As someone who has love Pokey (#TeamPokey!) from his first appearance in Esther's books, I was beyond excited for Austin's story. I absolutely loved how she made him his very own person but included some interesting quirks that reminded me so much of his father. He's the perfect combination of his parents. The same to be said of Jersey and you would instantly know she was related to Ramrod! This is hands down the BEST one yet out of this series. I loved their chemistry, the fact a supporting story l9ine was tied together and answers were given, and just the whole dang story. I'd be bold enough to say this has to be one of the best she's written for the whole Broken Deeds series. I'll forever be #TeamAustin now too.
