If at any time an author can bring out emotions in a reader, they are a success. If they can draw in a reader to feel engaged in the journey of their new book friends, they earn more respect. If an author can leave a reader feeling intrigued, inspired, and even offer healing, they’ve gained a bibliophile fanatic for life. - Shani K. - The Chronicles of an Abibliophobiac.

Spotlight Author of the Week: Hettie Ivers

(read through the introduction below and find helpful links at the end!)

You know in all my years of reading I can honestly say that I have maybe four series of books that I love so much. The Werelock Evolution series is right now, my favorite by far. Hettie has such a way of detailing each character's story with such an abundance of care and talent. If you’ve read the others in the series you can tell just how much she loves to shock us, make us love and hate the characters, and of course, leave us yelling, “WHAT???!!!!” at the ends of each book. Not only that, but she has the ability to make us get lost in the story and visit each emotion she has pouring out of them. I don’t know about others, but for me, that’s incredible. I have a mass amount of respect for any storytellers (as she refers to herself as) that can draw you in with all of that and make you want to stalk her...I mean harass her….wait...wait...I mean politely ask her when the next book will be out with a small smile and a convincing look of pure innocence.

I did not expect to like the series so much if I’m going to be quite honest. I had no idea what the hell a Werelock even was! I had started to read with the misconception that Slip of Fate would be very similar to all of the other paranormal romance/suspense books I’ve read previously. Some of them not so great too. But, I will say I was wrong. From the first sentence it had me. It took me very little time to read it because I was so engrossed in it. I even tried to tell myself, “just one more chapter” when I was tired. Lets just say it’s a good thing I have a heavy duty case on my kindle! My body didn’t agree with my mind apparently! I adore the books, they are intriguing, chaotic, sexy, funny, creative and more. I have read the second one again, and find myself picking up things I didn’t the first go around. I love that!

On a personal level, I have gotten to know Hettie a little bit, and every day she and my fellow “sisters” (fans...duh) keep me laughing and smiling. I’ve laughed until I cried, had some seriously awesome conversations and friendships that are such a blessing. Hettie is much more talented than I think she even realizes. :) With my obsession with reading, it’s a rarity to have one series of books grab me that quickly from the first one. I read everything of course, (Ya’ll have no idea!) but it takes something special to make me really go back for more with a series and/or an author.

If you haven’t taken the time to go check out Hettie’s work, please do! You are in for a real treat and soon you will be standing in line with the rest of us impatiently asking when do we get the next one?! Right now you can purchase Slip of Fate, Fear the Heart and pre-order Girl from Jussara. The novella will be available next month! Also, if you have a KU (Kindle Unlimited - click the link HERE to find out more) membership, you can get them free! If you are unsure about getting the membership, there is a free trial! So go do it….seriously! Stop reading this for a minute, go get them and then come back for a list of events this week!

Please leave some love for Hettie in a review on Amazon (and anywhere else you like) and tell her how you liked the book! All feedback is welcomed, as always. Reviews help the author AND the readers. Even if it’s a line or two, please share! :)

  1. Thank you SO MUCH, Shani, for your very generous words of praise! This is such a beautiful tribute, I think I'm going to have to go sit somewhere and be verklempt for a spell now. :) It has been awesome getting to know you and having the opportunity to bond with you and so many other fantastic women over our shared appreciation for smut, werewolves, werelocks, general silliness, and of course... David Gandy poker. It truly is a fabulous sisterhood and I am thrilled if my lunatic storytelling played some part in bringing you and these other amazing women into my life. :)
